laboratory evaluation of temephos against anopheles stephensi and culex pipiens larvae in iran
نویسندگان
چکیده
background: malaria is still a health problem in iran. there are several vector control activities, including indoor residual spraying, using insecticide treated nets and larviciding including temephos. in addition nuisance mosquitos are prevalent in the urban areas. so that evaluation of this species to larvicide will provide a clue for management of vector control activities. methods : two mosquito species were used in this study: anopheles stephensi were collected from kazeroun and culex pipiens from tehran, capital of iran. all the tests were carried out according to the who method. all the test kis was provided by who. results : results showed a lc 50 = 0.0523 and lc 90 =0.3822 mg/l for an. stephensi . the figure for cx. pipiens was 0.1838 and 0.8505 mg/l respectively. conclusions : monitoring of insecticide resistance to temephos should be evaluated regularly for management of vector control.

متن کاملChrysosporium tropicum efficacy against Anopheles stephensi larvae in the laboratory.
The keratinophilic soil fungus Chrysosporium tropicum was evaluated as a biological control agent against Anopheles stephensi larvae in the laboratory. Culture filtrates of C. tropicum were found to be toxic to An. stephensi larvae at various concentrations. The ranges of the 50% lethal concentration (LC50) values of fungal filtrates were 16.60-17.78, 12.02-12.88, and 34.67-35.48 microl/ml agai...
متن کاملLOCAL PRODUCTION OF PRIMARY POWDER OF BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS SEROTYPE H-14 IN IRAN AND DETERMINATION OF ITS INSECTICIDAL PROPERTIES AGAINST CULEX PIPIENS AND ANOPHELES STEPHENSI
Three media formulated from molasses and cornsteep liquor and another media based on the basal medium formulation of IPS-82 were assessed for the growth and production of insecticidal properties of B. thuringiensis H-14 .• Bacterial powders prepared from the broth cultures were assayed against the larvae of Culex pipiens and Anopheles stephensi. A standard powder of IPS-82 was included in ...
متن کاملLaboratory evaluation of 3 repellents against Anopheles stephensi in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This study evaluated the repellency effect of 3 topical repellents (permethrin, DEET and neem tree extract) against 3-5 day old females of laboratory and field strains of Anopheles stephensi. Probing/biting rates on the shaved belly of white rabbits were counted. Effective dose (ED) 50 and ED95 values were calculated by probit statistic software. The results revealed ED50 values of 0.007, 0.005...
متن کاملResistance Mechanisms of Anopheles stephensi (Diptera: Culicidae) to Temephos
BACKGROUND Anopheles stephensi is a sub-tropical species and has been considered as one of the most important vector of human malaria throughout the Middle East and South Asian region including the malarious areas of southern Iran. Current reports confirmed An. stephensi resistance to temephos in Oman and India. However, there is no comprehensive research on mechanisms of temephos resistance in...
متن کاملLaboratory and semi-field evaluation of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bioflash®) against Anopheles stephensi (Diptera: Culicidae) in an endemic malarious area of Iran
Background: Anopheles stephensi is considered to be the main malaria vector in the Middle East area including Iran. We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of a granule 10% formulation of Bacillus thuringiensis against this species under laboratory and semi-field conditions in an endemic malarious area of Iran. Method: After collecting mosquitos ...
